Thank you for visiting our Baptism page – it’s great to know that you are considering Baptism for your child.

What is Baptism like at St. Mary’s?

At St Mary we offer Baptism as a separate service on the first Sunday of most months at 12pm. We have no more than two families at each service. Families will then be invited back to church at a later date to receive their certificates and be formally welcomed into the church family.

Who is eligible to be baptised at St. Mary’s

For your child to baptised at St. Mary’s our policy states that one of the following criteria must be met:

  • You must live within the parish boundary of St Mary’s

  • You have a close relation who is a member of the church

  • You show commitment to the church by attending once a month for 6 months prior to the baptism. (Usually the monthly family service or our ‘Tiddlers’ group) 

How do I know if we live in the parish?

We can help with this if we have your postcode and or Street/Road name or you can check by visiting ‘ A Church Near you’

What does it cost?

There is no charge for Baptism. However, there will be a cash collection during the service and there is a card machine available too. Any donations are very much welcomed and appreciated

How do I apply?

We ask that our Baptism families come along to one of our family services at 10am on the 1st/3rd Sunday of the month. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to meet Rev Bee, Rev Rach or myself to discuss Baptism and ask any questions you may have.

At this point we can advise on current availability. Following this we would ask you to complete and return an application form before we confirm your date. Please would you drop me (Ruth) an email, to the address below, when you plan to come so I can make sure someone is available to chat)

What is the current availability?

Please contact us for up to date availability as this can change quickly – generally we are booking around six months in advance and summer months are the most popular!
